Wootton Parish Council
Wootton Parish Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month, in the Wootton and Dry Sandfor Community Centre.
The Council consists of twelve elected Councillors who are unpaid and live within the Parish. The Clerk is a salaried employee of the Council. Elections take place every four years and anyone on the Electoral Role for the Parish is entitled to stand for election. The next election will take place in May 2007.
The Council has the following Committees and Working Groups:-
Finance and General Purposes
Planning
Pavilion and Playing Field Management
The Council is responsible for the maintenance of the Pavilion and Playing Field, the Play Area opposite the Church, the Green and certain other grass cutting and litter cutting. It also has powers to make grants to assist local organisations, which include the Community Centre, the Youth Club and others.
The Council makes recommendations on all planning applications in Wootton to the Vale of White Horse District Council, who make the final decisions. The finance for these activities is obtained from the District Council, paid for as part of the council tax payable by residents of Wootton. An audit is carried out annually under the control of the Audit Commission.
You are welcome to attend Council meetings and the first fifteen minutes of the meeting is set aside for public participation. If you wish to contact the Council please do so through the Clerk, some individual Councillors may be contacted by email.

The Parish of St Helen Without consists of the villages of Dry Sandford and Shippon. It meets nine times a year, normally on a Monday alternating between Dry Sandford Primary School and the Dalton Barracks’ Community Centre in Shippon.

The Council is responsible for the maintenance of Sandleigh Road Recreation Ground which involves carrying out monthly inspections of the play equipment and managing the grass cutting contract. It has powers to make grants to assist local organisations, which include the Wootton and Dry Sandford Community Centre and its Youth Club, the Youth Centre at Dalton Barracks and others.
The Council makes recommendations on all planning applications in Dry Sandford and Shippon to the Vale of White Horse District Council, who make the final decisions.
